Day 301 More Last Minute Preparations

We seem to have lots of little things to do before going away and were kept busy doing them today. In the afternoon I took Dad to visit Mum. She's been having pain in her hip which has stopped her walking for the last few days.  She has an appointment next week  with the orthopadic surgeon who operated on this hip previously but it was decided to get her xrayed and reviewed by the oncall orthopod sooner.  It's going to be rather difficult keeping in touch with what's happening when I'm away.  Fingers crossed they won't suggest surgery.


After dropping Dad off I went to the sea front in porthcawl to take some photos. I got some nice ones and can't decide which is "the" photo.  I'll just post them and decide later. Any opinions gratefully received!

Day 157 Porthcawl Harbour

It was a beautiful sunny day today but with a cold wind blowing.  I did the hospital run this afternoon but Mum fell asleep after half and hour so I dropped Dad off at home a bit earlier than usual. This gave me plenty of time to wander around the harbour and along the pier in Porthcawl, well wrapped up in LB's sweatshirt as I'd forgotten a jacket!  The late afternoon lighting was quite nice and there was a very low tide so I could go down the steps cut into the rocks and walk around to the harbour entrance, being careful to only walk on stones so as not to sink knee deep in mud! This is a view of the harbour entrance I've never seen before.  The lighthouse is the one I photographed in January, from the other side, with the waves crashing on the wall. It was rather different today!
