Day 318 MoonRise

Monday 14 November

Time for a quiet day at home, today.  I had hundreds of photos to sort through and the blog to catch up on and we sketched out our plans for next week. We did a bit of food shopping and also bought some T shirts shorts and bathers.  There's much better choice than at home and prices are reasonable, we just have to watch our baggage weight limit for flying home!

In the evening Ian & Gaz went fishing and I accompanied them to the beach to photograph the moon rise.  This wasn't until gone 9.00 and the beach was pitch black when we arrived.  It was nice to see Orion in the sky albeit standing on his head. I don't recognise any other constellations here. I was armed with some plastic carrier bags and the dustpan, which I used as a shovel to fill the bags with sand.  Without a tripod the best I could do was use a sand bag to support the camera and the 10 second timer to ensure no movement.  I could only find a low piece of driftwood to rest the camera on so had to lie flat on the sand to see through the viewfinder.  It was tricky to say the least.  I did get some interesting photos though I think they'd benefit from a bit more post processing.
