Day 248

Monday 5 September

Well I'm back into hospital visiting routine.  I went over to Dad this morning.  He proudly showed me the work he's bein doing at the bottom of the garden . Alongside a paved path he had a raised bed topped with paving slabs on which were several tubs of shrubs.  the support for the bed collapsed earliear in the summer and he has spent weeks working on it. He lifted the slabs on both the path and bed, lowered the bed and raised the path by shifting earth from one to the other, constructed a wooden framework to support and edge the lower but still raised bed, then put the slabs and shrubs back.  I'm so proud of him. It's his 93rd birthday in just over 2 weeks!

Anyway we had lunch out together in the local pub before going to the hospital to visit Mum.  After dropping Dad back at his house I did a bit of shopping before coming home.  Had a quiet evening and another late search for a photo.  My initial thought was the first crop of pears I'd picked from our garden yesterday.  For some reason we have lots more pears than usual but also a lot of them have been half eaten on gone rotten before they've ripened.  It's wasp central out there at the moment with one or two wasps on each damaged fruit. There's plenty of good ones and the first were ripe enough to pick yesterday.  I experimented with lighting but couldn't make them look interesting but while experimenting thought of using the colander to give interesting light.  It didn't do much for the pears but I thought was quite an interesting shot on its own
