Day 278 Porthcawl & Cardiff Scientific Society

Wednesday 4 October

It was quite a busy day today. Chased up the washing repairs which took ages on the phone and then Ian went down to Curry's to sort it.  If we don't have a date for the repair tomorrow we'll be getting another new machine! Picked up my new sunglasses and my normal glasses, which had been repaired, from the optician then went over to Dad.  We had a nice lunch together in the Farmers Arms in Nottage then went to visit Mum.  She was quite bright today and enjoyed our usual balloon game.

Once home I just had time for a quick cup of tea and then was off out again.  First we picked up V ( P is away working) and headed to the Grape & Olive for food. ( no, I don't usually have two meals out in a day!)  It was fairly quiet in there but the food was excellent and served promptly so we could get away in plenty of time to go to the first of this seasons Cardiff Scientific Society's lectures.  I've mentioned this before. They give fortnightly lectures, by world class speakers, on a scientific topic, once a fortnight from October to March.  Annual membership costs the grand sum of £8!  We've not come across anything else thats better value for money! Tonights talk was again excellent but by the time we got home again it was getting late and I'd not taken a photo. Constructed this in my studio - the dining table!  It's supposed to represent light, colour & form - the basic photographic elements
