Day 193 Another Cycle Ride

After a leisurely ride we set off on the bikes again. It was a grey and slightly chilly day day but ok for a cycle. We did a 20 mile circular route with several stops.  Firstly at Sea Palling we diverted off the road to have a look at the beach.  This was huge and sandy with regular short stone breakwaters paralleling the shoreline.  It was quite windy today but must be nice if ever there's a hot sunny day!  A mile or two further on we stopped at Waxham Barn. This was very impressive and had been built in the 1500's.

It also had a tearoom which supplied us with a pot of tea and scrumptious coffee & walnut cake. A few more miles brought us to Horsey wind Pump.  This looks like a traditional wind mill but was a pump which pumped water from the dykes draining the farmland into the Broads & river system.  My main photo is of the cogwheels in the cap linked to the sails.

Later we stopped again at a pub in Martham for lunch, had a quick look at the boats at Potter Heigham before returning to the campsite.  In the evening a final pint in the Greyhound pub in Hickling completed the day before settling down back in the van.

Last photo is of yesterday morning's partridges.
